Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with deep backstory, a diverse cast of heroes, and a exciting storyline including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces increasing in influence within Dol-Makjar.
Note: Revealing details for the latest installment of the new season follow below.
The Warrior Group Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a dramatic pause and presented the first table of heroes who will separate from the central cast to begin their own adventure, separate from the additional parties.
The combat-focused team features Teor Pridesire (brought to life by the voice actor), Thimble (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander Halovar (Sam), and Kattigan (the actor).
The Reason for Division
Considering a large ensemble, it was clear from the start that keeping everyone at one table would be impossible.
Hence, the opening chapters of Campaign 4 serve as an Introduction, connecting the individual narratives before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Combat Party
As described by the Dungeon Master, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a traditionally charged fight-heavy gameplay experience where peaceful solutions are rare.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might appear out of place, but the developments of episode 3 make it clear why these particular heroes are ideally matched for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party understands precisely where to head next after a violent opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose demise started the story’s plot—exploited the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, attacking the character, and taking all the powerful objects to dispose of.
The traitor then cleared his liabilities and fled to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, beyond the urban center, with Cyd Pridesire pursuing him.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the close ally and trusted friend, seeks vengeance.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and advises that it is a dangerous location.
- Tyranny and Wicander, having disobeyed his family’s wishes to kill the target and instead saved him, have no safe haven.
- Yet, their position as key figures in House Halovar could enable the party access places they normally couldn’t.
- Additionally, Teor vowed a life debt to Wicander for his salvation and will now accompany him everywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are sought by the authorities that govern the city for a range of causes, making remaining behind too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander turned against the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the remote area in search of the traitor.
Upcoming Developments
According to the latest episode’s follow-up content, we learn that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Questers and Planners parties.
Audiences can expect finding out which characters will be in which group in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on October 24.
